Transactions
The ledger behind your spot positions: types, filters, cost basis and export.
On this page
Transactions is the ledger of your spot buys, sells and transfers. Manual accounts are built from it, transaction by transaction. An exchange import can bring your trade history into it; a wallet import records each token balance as a Transfer In dated at the import, not the on-chain history, and imported lines, from a wallet or an exchange, stay read-only.
Four types
Buy, Sell, Transfer In and Transfer Out. Transfers between two of your accounts are linked and show the counterpart.
Filters and sorting
By account, asset, type and date range; sorted by date, total value or quantity; 25, 50 or 100 rows per page.
Weighted average cost
Profit and loss uses the weighted average cost of each asset. Fees in dollars or stablecoins are part of the cost basis.
Export
Export CSV downloads the current transaction page with your filters applied.
Buy
- What it records
- An asset acquired for a price, with an optional fee. It raises the quantity held and updates the average cost.
Sell
- What it records
- An asset sold for a price, with an optional fee. It lowers the quantity held and realizes a gain or a loss against the average cost.
Transfer In
- What it records
- An asset arriving on an account without a purchase, for example from another of your accounts.
Transfer Out
- What it records
- An asset leaving an account without a sale. When the two sides are two of your accounts, the transfer is linked and each side shows the other account.
The list filters by account, asset, type and date range, the end date included in full. It sorts by execution date, total value or quantity, and shows 25, 50 or 100 rows per page; on a phone, transactions sorted by date are grouped by day. Selecting a transaction opens its panel beside the list: every figure, the account or the two sides of a transfer, the origin and the notes, with Edit and Delete. A transaction on a manual account can be edited there, except one side of a transfer between two of your accounts, which is deleted and entered again as a whole. A line imported from a wallet or an exchange is read-only, and Delete hides it rather than deleting it: its source would not write it again. New transaction opens the same panel to enter one.
Each entry is checked against its account's history at its own date, not only against today's balance. A sale or a transfer out cannot take more than the account held at that moment, and editing or deleting an earlier buy cannot leave a later sale without the units it took. The entry is then refused, and the message gives the date, the quantity the account would hold and the quantity missing. A date more than one day ahead and a negative fee are refused as well.
An inconsistency already in an account never blocks an unrelated entry, and an entry that reduces it is accepted. Until it is corrected, that account's spot holdings are left out of the totals: the dashboard names the account in Attention, its card on the accounts page says so with a link to its transactions, and the daily snapshot is marked partial.
Profit and loss uses weighted average cost for each asset in each account. Buys update that cost; sells compare their proceeds with the cost of the quantity sold.
Fees paid in dollars or stablecoins are included. Fees paid in a volatile asset are shown but excluded from profit and loss when their value at the trade date is unknown. The available history and recorded prices therefore affect the result.
In Transactions, Export CSV downloads only the current page: 25, 50 or 100 rows, depending on your selection. To retrieve several pages, export them separately or use the account export.
In Yield and Lending, the export includes all positions in the list after hiding dust, beyond the current page.
In Settings > Data & privacy, the JSON export gathers your Patrima data without connection credentials. Reports can be printed to PDF from their page. These files let you review or reuse your data; they are not a tax report or an automatic restore process.
Synchronized accounts
Manual transactions cannot be added to an imported wallet or exchange, and a transfer cannot involve one: their positions come from synchronizations, and a manual entry would drift from reality at the next one. Use a manual account for positions you want to track by hand.
An archived account keeps its transactions
The transactions of an archived account stay in this list and can no longer be edited or deleted one by one. Deleting the archived account deletes them too; the confirmation dialog says how many. It cannot be undone.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I add a transaction to an imported wallet or exchange?
Imported accounts mirror their source: their positions come from synchronizations, so manual transactions would drift from reality on the next one, and a transfer cannot involve one either. Use a manual account for positions you want to track by hand.
How is my profit and loss computed?
From the weighted average cost of each asset on each account. Every buy updates the average cost with its price and its fee when the fee is in dollars or a stablecoin; every sell realizes the difference between its proceeds, net of such a fee, and the average cost at that time. Transfers move quantities without realizing anything. A transfer between two of your accounts carries the average cost of the source account at the transfer date, so the receiving account keeps what the units cost; the market price of the day is used only when that cost is unknown, and the transfer is refused when neither is known.
Why is a fee shown on a transaction but not counted in profit and loss?
Because it was paid in a volatile asset, for example an exchange token. Its value at the moment of the trade is not known, so counting it would make the figure wrong. Fees paid in dollars or stablecoins are counted.
What does Export CSV contain?
In Transactions, the file contains the current page with filters applied. See Export your data for other export types.
What is a linked transfer?
A transfer whose two sides are two of your accounts. Each side shows the other account, so you can see where the asset went and where it came from. Neither side counts as a deposit or a withdrawal in performance. The two sides go together: deleting one deletes both, after the same check as any entry, and a side cannot be edited alone, so a change means deleting the transfer and entering it again.
Why was my entry refused?
Most often because, at its date, the account would not hold what the entry takes out: a sale dated before the buy that funds it, or a buy reduced, moved or deleted while a later sale depends on it. The message gives the date, the quantity the account would hold and the quantity missing. Correcting the date or the quantity of one of the entries is enough. A date more than one day in the future, a negative fee or an unknown type are refused too.
Why is an account left out of my totals?
Its transactions do not add up: at some date, a sale or a transfer takes more than the account held. Rather than show wrong figures, Patrima leaves that account's spot holdings out of net worth, the dashboard, reports and the daily snapshot, which is marked partial. Its yield and lending positions still count. The dashboard names the account in Attention and its card on the accounts page links to its transactions. Correcting a date or a quantity there brings it back into the totals.
